XT-912 Tundra
Designed for flying around Australia and Alaska
If you are looking for a rugged microlight that can handle extra rough or sandy terrain then the XT Outback is great. If you want the added comfort of the faired cockpit with the option of the tall windscreen then the XT-912 Tundra is for you.
The XT-912 Tundra can be matched up with a variety of wings including the Merlin, Cruze and Streak-3. The new wider wheel spats not only look fantastic with their angled fins, but also perform an important function and help the trike base track better with the faster Streak-3 wing.
The XT-912 Tundra is the ultimate cross country microlight that can give you the best of all worlds, low or high speeds and an amazing array of landing options. The XT-912 Tundra is a workhorse suitable for stock mustering, inspecting fences and waterholes and a model favoured by many farmers.
Powered by the Rotax 912 80HP engine and with optional dual rear disc brakes the XT-912 Outback has more than enough power for normal and towing flight with exceptional stopping power.
State of the art digital instrumentation is standard with the Skydat GX2. It features full engine and flight management with fuel flow and accumulated fuel usage in an easy to read glass panel.

The XT can be set up
easily by one person. The mast folds independently of
the motor. A gas strut is used to help lift the wing
onto the trike base and requires little effort.
High quality Fournales oleopneumatic rear shock absorbers
are used on the rear. On the front again high quality
double action adjustable shock absorbers. The XT now
comes standard with carby heating. |

The wide rear 6 inch
wheels remain a feature as with our other models but
the wheel pants/spats have been redesigned and include
an integrated aerodynamic fin. The XT-912 comes standard
with the new Streak 3 wing. PX 20 mylar is used on the
leading edge. This cloth is only available in white
with a black cross weave, it is UV resistant (within
reason) and is easy to keep clean. |

There are two undersurface
panels on the Streak and Cruze wings and these can be
coloured, use our colour picker to make up your own
combination. The battens are enclosed within the trailing
edge making the wing look super clean and low drag.
The batten ends are designed so they are extremely easy
to load and can be individually tensioned to make wing
tuning a breeze. Setting up a Streak 3 is a one person
operation as with all Airborne wings. Attaching the
wing to the trike base is also a simple one person operation,
the wing is lifted with the aid of a gas strut on the
trike base. |

The Streak 3 and Cruze
look the part with low drag faired control frame, kingpost
and CNC milled control bar corners. The trimmer control
allows for easy operation and adjusts the trim speed
by 10 knots. With state of the art design and many years
of flexwing design influence we believe you will find
Airborne wings have the best all round handling and
performance on the market today. But don't take our
word for it test fly and compare yourself. |

The fuel tank holds 72
litres giving the pilot enough airtime for extensive
cross country or circuit work. The tank is especially
designed for the XT and helps to give the aircraft it's
aerodynamic lines. The CNC milled mast capture has allowed
an efficient means of attaching the engine mounts, the
shock absorbers and the seat frame. The mast is held
in place by this part which has been milled out of solid
6061 grade aluminium. This method of manufacturing allows
for very strong and light weight components to be used. |

The park brake is standard
on the XT. We have also added a neoprene cover over
the wheel hole in the fairing. This stops cold air flowing
into the cockpit and help reduce drag. |

|
Lifting the Streak 3
onto the XT base is simple and a one person operation.
The mast is lowered, the wing connected and a gas strut
helps you lift the wing. You can even use a strut to
keep the wing in the half down position to allow for
access into low hangers. |
|
|
|
|
|
The seat frame has been
widened but we have kept to our standard style of seat
which has proved to be one of the more comfortable trike
seats available. The cockpit has a tall windscreen for
improved wind deflection and the cockpit is cut away
at the sides to allow for easier pilot access. Seat
fabric is a high grade outdoor marine fabric. |

Ask anyone who has flown
the Rotax 912 and you will get an enthusiastic response.
This 912 is reliable, It runs smoothly and quietly and
uses around 8-12 litres of fuel per hour. With the 72
litre (19 US gallon) fuel tank a cruise speed of 55-60
knots the XT is a true cross country microlight. This
reliable Rotax 912 delivers a smooth 80 HP to our new
beautifully crafted 3 blade composite propeller with
CNC milled hub. People ask why we don't use the 912S
and the answer is simple, the S engine will only give
you slightly better climb and not more airspeed. The
Streak 3 wing is efficient and we don't feel that you
need anymore climb performance than what the XT delivers. |
